Superman Returns – Biggest Box Office Weekend Ever??

i saw Superman Returns this weekend. it was good… better than i expected after hearing some critics. it was imho better than X-Men 3. i do agree that casting could’ve been a little better… besides Spacey who was perfect. there were many tributes to the older movies… with a nudge of newness… which was cool… but kind of left me feeling like it rode the fence too much.

a couple of weeks ago i predicted that Superman Returns would have the largest grossing opening weekend in US box office history… overtaking Spiderman. so far it doesn’t look like that feat will happen… but will know tomorrow… either way i think Warner Brothers and DC will be happy. i just figured Superman would/should/could have a larger audience.

Pandora’s Jar – A Pandora.com Time Shifter

pandora.com is an awesome service
this open source app >> Pandora’s Jar allows users to time-shift songs… some would call it a Pandora Ripper… as it does allow you to save the MP3, tag it using Last.fm and listen to it at a later time. it’s like a DVR (you know Tivo for Television?) except it’s for audio… so i guess it’s a DAR (Digital Audio Recorder) specifically for Pandora.com’s broadcasts.

just thought i’d point it out.

Ferrari Pictures

i just discovered something kind of neat… neat for me anyhow: in the last 45 days i’ve received about 260 visitors per day from Yahoo Images for ‘Ferarri‘ & ‘Ferrari Pictures

they point to the image i posted long ago prior to going to bed… of course i was hoping (and still do) to some day be fortunate enough to actually own such a machine versus being limited to dreaming about driving one.

Roger Clemens Hooks’em for the Round Rock Express

Roger Clemens recovered from a shaky 1st inning where he started uneasy… with the record breaking crowd that showed up at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock to see the baseball superstar.

btw, Clemens won a College World Series with the Texas Longhorns in 1983… and yeah he’s had a lot of success in Major League Baseball (Google him for more).

the neatest thing about seeing him play for The Express was the intimate size of the field… and the huge respect the crowd had for him (Astros fans, Longhorn fans, and MLB superstar fans). it was worth every bit of the $10 per ticket; which btw were selling for $100+ online.

Thanks Roger… Thanks Nolan… Thanks Houston Astros… Thanks Dell… Thanks Round Rock!!

MS-SQL Query Analyzer Auto-Complete (Intellisense)

i finally installed some really great freeware… great for anybody who uses Microsoft SQL Server’s Query Analyzer. the freeware is called SQLPrompt and can be downloaded here! you can also download the software from the creators at http://www.red-gate.com/products/SQL_Prompt/ as well as get more info from them too. (i posted the download from my site, because i think i read somewhere that it’s offered free for a limited time)

auto-complete your queries… while getting snapshot views of tables and stored procedures as you form them up!! it’s just tooooooo goooood… but it’s true!

World Cup Tickets

The World Cup is on! actually it’s been on for several days, but I just thought I’d remind you :D. We’re busy here at work, TicketCity.com, selling World Cup Tickets. I never realized how big the event is. Perhaps soccer is becoming more mainstream… nah I’m probably just out of touch. I would bet Tim keeps up with the World Cup to some degree. I guess I just have to fall back on rooting for my home team USA!! Anyhow, you might try to catch a game or 2… who knows you might get hooked like so many other fans throughout the World!

Roger Clemens will Pitch for the Round Rock Express

The Rocket (Roger Clemens) will be starting pitcher on June 16th 2006 at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock Texas for the Round Rock Express…Triple A Affiliate of the Houston Astros!

I will be there 😀 too!!

It’s probably going to be the most exciting game in Express history. I hope Nolan Ryan makes an appearance too!

I’ll try to snap some pictures to share…

The Da Vinci Code Movie Suprise

ahh… the controversey…

perhaps a little too much hype…

imho, this movie was good! i know some ‘religous’ folks that absolutely refuse to see this film on some basis that it is the work of the Devil himself. uh… ok… whatever…

this film has true ‘suspense’ it keeps you wondering what’s around the next corner… it’s great for people who want a movie that asks you to ‘think’ a little bit… so if that’s not you… save your money for something else… i mean there’s only going to be a ton of great movies this summer.

oh yeah the ‘suprise’ was that i found the movie to be better than expected!

X-Men 3 on Memorial Day Box Office Smash

if you didn’t see X-Men 3 this past Memorial Day weekend but have seen the first 2 you might have been in the minority of X-Men’ers. that’s because X-Men 3 made over 120 million bucks… CHA-CHING… btw >> MVL

i saw it and it was a pretty good movie… perfect to start the Summer movie-going season off with. i think a tad bit more comedy earlier in the film would’ve added a nice touch… but the action and fx weren’t lacking one bit.

if u haven’t seen the first 2 you can get away with not seeing them prior to checking out this installment… but i highly recommend you rent the first 2 (that way if u don’t like u don’t pay the 7-12$ per person ticket price).
