Ticket Discounts, Sometimes Below Face Value!

i’ve been working this summer (and spring and fall… ok but back to summer) at Ticket City developing some really slick website features that other ticket brokers simply don’t have. This fall is going to exciting as we begin to release new feature after new feature.

for now, check out our new “Ticket Specials” page(s). if you’re looking for cheap concert tickets, cheap football tickets, or cheap tickets to any upcoming event in a city near you… then check out view our ticket specials before shopping anywhere else. If we’ve got tickets below face value (yeah… we actually do sell tickets below face value on occassion) along with tickets that have been reduced at least 10% you can find them at Ticket City >> Ticket Specials

so much more to come… enjoy!

btw, can you believe that Hannah Montana Tickets are kind of a big deal… not to me or perhaps you… but across the country this girl, miley cyrus, is getting paid as she evidently has a huge fan base!!

Flight of the Conchords are crashing my server :(

a while back i blogged about the flight of the conchords… after i saw them on a hilarious 30 minute hbo special. that was well before they got their own weekly show on hbo. that posts has some mp3’s i found from the show… and over the last year and a half since that post i’ve served up several downloads… but lately my webserver has been getting hit like crazy. so many downloads of “business time” and “hip-hop-apotamus vs the rhymenasaurus” that my hosting company had to freeze up my site for a couple of days. i made some hotlinking restrictions… so hopefully that will take care of the issue… otherwise i’ll have to pull those files off 🙁

anyhow if you haven’t heard of ‘flight of the conchords’ by now you should check them out… they crack me up. their show on hbo is every sunday night… but on youtube there are a bunch of clips of their songs… the ones one their shows are really kinda scaled down… the ones from their stand up routines are mucho better.

ACL Festival 2007 (band rumors)

tickets to the 2007 Austin City Limits Festival (ACL Fest) went on sale last week… and sold out quick! there will be single day tickets released in upcoming weeks and months so you can check for official website for tickets or you can find tickets for re-sale from people who already got their hands on some tickets >> acl tickets.

so who’s performing in 2007… good question.. there’s been a lot of speculation and some confirmations… but the headliners haven’t been revealed just yet. there was a lot of talk abou The Police and Pearl Jam, but it appears that neither will happen. also, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins… again the rumors seem to be nope on both those bands. at this point likely bands still include White Stripes and Foo Fighters… but still with another several weeks before offiical lineup annoucements there is a lot of speculation… especially when it was reported that organizer Charles Attal mentioned that headliners would be “bigger” than Smashing Pumpkins and RHCP.

i don’t intend to update this post or my blog on the matter… unless of course i discover… which i highly doubt.. that RATM are on board… but if you want to see the latest rumors i suggest:

Pandora & Internet Radio Petition

from pandora:

Hi, it’s Tim from Pandora,

I’m writing today to ask for your help. The survival of Pandora and all of Internet radio is in jeopardy because of a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC to almost triple the licensing fees for Internet radio sites like Pandora. The new royalty rates are irrationally high, more than four times what satellite radio pays, and broadcast radio doesn’t pay these at all. Left unchanged, these new royalties will kill every Internet radio site, including Pandora.

In response to these new and unfair fees, we have formed the SaveNetRadio Coalition, a group that includes listeners, artists, labels and webcasters. I hope that you will consider joining us.

Please sign our petition urging your Congressional representative to act to save Internet radio: http://capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/issues/alert/?alertid=9631541

Please feel free to forward this link/email to your friends – the more petitioners we can get, the better.

Understand that we are fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I’m no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster’s business potential.

I hope you’ll take just a few minutes to sign our petition – it WILL make a difference. As a young industry, we do not have the lobbying power of the RIAA. You, our listeners, are by far our biggest and most influential allies.

As always, and now more than ever, thank you for your support.

Apple TV $299 Now Shipping

it’s out now, the set top box from Apple known as AppleTV. the reviews are mixed, but for the most part it seems that this is the best product of it’s kind that has been released… that’s a trend apple hopes to keep moving forward. i’m seriously considering a purchase for myself on this one. i’ve been wanting a nice way to remote control my ipod, while it’s plugged into my home theater, and the solutions that were previously available just kinda sucked. the appletv would be an overpriced solution for just remoting my ipod, but having access to the itunes library might prove to be worth it. i dunno tho… i already have movies on demand through my cable provider (time warner) and a blockbuster@home video subscription that already tends to provide more video than i seem to ever have time for… so i dunno. anyhow, just wanted to spread the word about the appletv, i think a lot of people are gonna love it. FREE High Quality Concert Recordings for Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, The Cars, Bon Jovi & MUCH MORE

i read an article about this guy who bought the rights to a bunch of musical memorabilia from Clear Channel. his score included master recordings for a lot of really cool concerts… going back to pre Jimi Hendrix and Led Zepplin all the way up to mid 80’s Eric Clapton. so the guy bought this stuff for several million and is selling most of it to collectors… but the really cool thing is… he’s streaming the concerts for free online!!!

i’ve been digging thos rare recordings… and you should too… there lots of artists and concerts to pick from… might i suggest SRV in Austin!

Blue Man Group Tour

i finally saw the Blue Man Group here in Austin… now you gotta go check them out! i’ve wanted to check out their las vegas act for a while, but the last several times i’ve been i haven’t for one reason or the other… which reminds me… DON’T PAY TO SEE Le Reve at the WYNN… i got tickts for $45 each (usually $100) using a discount code… the seats were great… but the show was definitely not Cirque du Soleil’s Mystere quality (go see Mystere if you’re set on a Cirque du Soleil show). < < sorry for the rant... just trying to help you people save time and money. anyhow... go check out Blue Man Group... that is if you want some really rockin percussion heavy entertainment... mixed with some off-the-wall comedy. it's loud, it's colorful... it's a lot of fun! also, Tracy Bonham is touring with the group and picking up several of the vocal parts. she did a short opening act too... which was a very pleasant surprise. that girl can really play a violin... she jammed it out pretty good... my fave was when she cranked ac/dc's back in black (on violin of course, with some drums from the BMG guys). she played an interesting swing/country mix of Beyonces Crazy in Love... but the crowd fave was Mother Mother. all together a great show and with touring ticket prices appearing to be cheaper than vegas prices well worth checking out the touring act if you get a chance!
