Freeware: Compare MS SQL Objects (Tables, Stored Procs, etc)

this is another nifty tool for web programmers and dba’s. its free and it will compare tables, stored procedures, indexes, triggers, users, etc. between two databases (servers too). it’s especially helpful when you develop something in a local environment then need to replicate your changes to a testing environment and then push them to a production environment.

because the author doesn’t seem to list a homepage i’m archiving this gem on my server… you can download it here >> SQLServerCompare.exe

Texas Longhorns vs Ohio State Buckeyes

here is my belated post of the #2 Texas vs #1 Ohio State game…

thank goodness i didn’t pay what some people were for tickets to this ‘college game of the year’ where the number 1 and 2 ranked teams battled it out. hopes were high for the tons of Texas Longhorns football fans (after winning the national championship last year.. in the game of the century!) but all in all Ohio State outplayed my horns. but don’t count the horns out… Colt McCoy isn’t polished just yet, but the teams is strong and deep and the rest of this year should show the longhorns finishing strong.

i can say that i attended the largest football game in the state of texas! not just college football… but of all football… 89,422 people attended (thats a crowd).

i heard that 60,000 people came from Ohio for the weekend… and i did see a lot of red and silver… but i have to say they were drowned out pretty solid by a lot more burnt orange.

for the rest of the season let’s hook’em!!

Fantasy Football 2006

football season is just around the corner… and along with the few select athletes talented enough to be labeled as “pros” and those good enough and smart enough to play college football… i’ll be watching them with the love of a fan and the desire to win big… at fantasy football.

fantasy football is as close to the pros i’ll ever get (besides the christmas day game in Irving this year for the Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles… featuring Terrell Owens)… and i’m sure a few games between now and then (i’m hoping to get some Redskins vs Cowboys tickets!)

it’s fun… being a team owner you have to make long and short term decisions that can ultimately make u a winner or a loser… kinda (very slightly) like being a real team owner. it’s like chess, poker, and horse racing all combined. if that doesn’t sound like fun to you… well then u r probably better off not dabbling… otherwise u should look into joining a league.

Emulate a Dial-Up Connection for Web-Site Testing

here is some software that will throttle down your connection speed so that you can witness first hand how a website/webpage loads for dial-up users on the internet. it works great as a dial-up emulator. it will emulate 28.8Kb, 33.3Kb and 56Kb.

it’s called Charles << umm... ok then... enjoy. btw, u can do a lot more with it than what i'm mentioning

A Beer Belly That Saves You Money on Beer

i discovered this little contraption… i think many of us have had this idea… you know, you go to a concert or ball game and end up paying like $8 a beer. if you’re a po’ boy like me your wallet is empty before the 3rd inning (or 2nd act). so if u want to save a few bucks and don’t mind adding more belly to your already visible beer belly (i’m betting you have one :P) then check out the Beer Belly >> http://www.thebeerbelly.com/

and for an equally interestig product that might come in handy during those games and concerts while chug-a-luggin your brewskis… the Stadium Pal >> http://www.stadiumpal.com/

Happy Birthday USA

Let Freedom Ring!!

I hope everybody had a safe and fun Independence Day. Despite our vast variant opinions regarding politics, religion, economics, the environment… and more… I hope we all agree that we live in the Greatest Nation in the World no matter how we got here our future is in OUR hands.

btw, next year i think i’m going to Houston for fireworks (if i can help it). they have one of the most expensive and high powered shows in the country… should’ve gone this year… but remembered too late… sniffle sniffle.
